Was thinking, and as I have no one to bounce idle thoughts off, would it be fair to say:

That when I was younger, I went to queer spaces in the hope of meeting people with the same interests as me. Now, I have to go to meet people with the same interests as me, in the hope that some of them are queer?

I feel that this is how meeting people has developed since I came out in 1999, interested to see if anyone agrees? Is it just a getting older thing? or just me?

Interesting. Is this because it used to be that "People I am attracted to" was the rare thing, and now "People I share interests with" is?

i thought it might be a consequence of the gay scene closing up, but actually i think it's a growing older thing, I don't want to go to nightclubs any more and there's no equivalent of the student lgbt society (at least not that I want to go to..)

Yeah, not wanting to join that kind of group is understandable, but I can see the drawbacks.

Bit of both maybe? It can be quite hard in general to meet new people.
