eEven a cursory internet search reveals Charlie Hebdo to be a racist, islamophobic, sexist publication, not exactly "the world's greatest satirists" but even nasty racist trolls do not deserve to die

Yeah. I am amazed but probably shouldn't be by the strong and conflicting feelings I have about this awful murder. I agree 100% with your post but can't agree with your title. xxx

and of course these weren't just nasty racist trolls; they were people with histories and hopes and friends and families and plans and desires. murder shouldn't reduce them to schematic caricatures. and so on.

Exactly how I feel. They were not good, but freedom of speech is important.
