The new UK birds red list released. "When the RSPB was formed 120 years ago, few would have been concerned about the cuckoo, lapwing, starling or house sparrow. Now, these birds are some of our greatest conservation priorities." Given that most (if not all) species of birds have declined in the last 40 years by ridiculous amounts, it makes me sad to think how alive the world must have been and sounded only a few decades before I was born.
