• Wisden hails Claire Taylor as Cricketer of Year
  I should have linked to the telegraph article that describes her as the number 1 batsman in the world. Anyway, she's ace and first played for Cambridge Uni's men's XI, currently on the national side that just won the world cup (for the third time) and is the first woman to be picked as one of the Cricketers of the Year.

  Bakpakhistan's only real event is the annual grain festival, the Bakbakbakstöp Harvest Festival. The event, celebrating the nation's only successful harvest (1867), takes place in the first three weeks of June. A country already pretty much stationary grinds to a total stop, as every town hosts a parade featuring residents wearing traditional three-cornered hats. It's also the only time of the year when children are allowed to play the traditional game of stïc bol, played with a stïc (a type of stick) and a bol (a round ball).

I have to go to Rum for a week of 'Ecology and Field Studies' for my course... I'm really excited! I think we are going to go on a night climb to observe shearwaters, which is what your phD is about, right? You totally have to lecture me so I know all sorts of smart things to say!

And yes, let's go to the talk!

Wow! yes it is! I've also lived on the densest colony of Manxies. I can explain to you why their latin name is Puffinus puffinus too. (Puffins are Fratecula arctica i think)
