Zopa - I remember a friend mentioned that she was involved. In terms of risk I'd expect it to be low if you were only making small loans. Though of course if you did that then the expected payout would also be lower.

Its an interesting idea, and one that I could see working out really well. But I really haven't studied it myself.

Not mentioned in the Bush article: Japan is finally telling the US to gtf out of their country, so 8,000 troops formerly stationed in Okinawa are moving to a new US base very near that marine reserve.

Also, I've come this close to using Zopa on both the lending and borrowing side over the last couple of years, but have never gone through with it. I may use it to lend at some point in the future, because it sounds awesome - although in some ways I'd prefer to go with third world microloans (if there's somewhere that allows me to do that).

I am keeping Zopa at the back of my mind; when I have spare cash that isn't tied up in ISAs etc I'll try to remember it!
