I cycle down the Roseburn path to work, and all the way down there to Newhaven there are abandoned platforms, and in one place the old station building on a rickety disused bridge is still there. I think they might be using it for the trams too, which worries me in terms of cycling space, but it's great in terms of reuse of old infrastructure.

The ideal solution is to re-open up the old lines (which is how the T&W Metro was done) but yes, that would remove their use as lovely cycle and walking routes around the city.

I'm thinking of a day or two walking Edinburgh and taking pictures of all the old stations. I'm not really a train spotter but I'm fascinated by old land use - I also found out that my flat used to be Abbeyhill Laundry (Steamie), and Meadowbank shopping centre, which I though might have been a rail switching/goods yard, was actually an Iron Foundary right up until relatively recently.
