Apr. 19th, 2006 06:52 pmThe MOD owns a vast swathe of upper Redesdale and Coquetdale, which is usually shut to the public so soldiers can, er, play soldiers and blow each other up and stuff. Except for a random weekend a month, and even then you have to STAY ON THE ROADS AND PUBLIC RIGHTS OF WAY OR YOU GET BLOWN UP so it's always full of ramblers and people having picnics in really unlikely places, like on top of a concrete roadside bunker, as everyone tries to go on the one weekend.
During Lambing, however, the farmers kick off and all the soliders go on holiday for a whole month. This means it's a lot more quieter, so dad took me on an epic drive-by tour of the ranges.
