Woman with North American accent: "Are there any restrooms near here?"
Me: "Yes, the public TOILETS are nearby, if you walk down the main street you'll see a sign for public TOILETS, turn right down Bridge Street, the TOILETS are just next to the Post Office."
"..thanks!"
I wasn't correcting her, restrooms is perfectly acceptable English. I was just bored.
(Also: I was reading online scans of Victorian documents, and the logbook for a School in the 1860s uses "Vacation" as oppose to holiday. so there.)
