One of many things I like about Northumberland is the place names, and it brightens up my day no end that people often ask me how to pronounce places, which probably says how boring my job is and how I can find interest in the smallest things to stop my brain turning to porridge.
(Stuff like Coquet (Coke-it) and Alnwick (Ann-ick), as well as all the -gham places, like Bellingham (Bellin-jum) and Edlingham (Edlin-jum). And Eglingham (Eglin-jum).)
I also think a trip to Oh Me Edge is in order soon, as it's not far from Chattlehope Spout. Which as you will recall, I never have found BUT WILL ONE DAY cos there might be goats there.
IN OTHER NEWS: Has anyone seen Carnivale? Any good? It's on FX, a sky/ntl channel I've never heard of. But it has Clea DuVall in it.
