Petrol

All but one of the petrol stations I passed on a one hour drive had unleaded at more than a pound a litre. The only one that didn't had it at 98p. You know how the prices are those digital-esque numbers on a big sign outside the station? One station had them written on paper sellotaped on because their display only held three digits. Awww.

Anyway, it said on the radio that "they" are planning another petrol blockade. Who are they anyway?

'they' = dreadful bigots who are only interested in their own 'right' to drive in their own [biggest possible] vehicle from A to B for as little as possible without any thought at all about the effect they have on anyone else...

our public transport system isn't entirely shit. Some bits, like the buses in edinburgh, are pretty damn good. I don't think it's fair to point to privatisation as the reason the trains are shit, either - they were definitely shit before they were privatised.

"they" also = farmers, truckers, etc., who rely on transport for their work.

for every person who actually needs their IC vehicle, there's one who 'needs' it to drive through built up areas because they object to sharing public transport with the proletariat, beacuse they insist on sending their little darlings to separate private schools etc etc, and claims it is a 'right'.

You'll also find that the main protesters are the people with nothing better to do; the valid users are those who are too busy getting on with life.
