• Evaporation of the Aral Sea
  Now you see it, now you don't.. one of my earliest memories of being aware of ecological damage was pictures of the Aral Sea that I must have looked at in the 1980s, comparing the lake's then state to what it was in the 50s or 60s. I swear the text accompanying it read "at this rate, the lake will have dried up by the year 20.."; I forget which year, but turns out it was 2009.
