tech question

I've got broadband through Demon, which my dad pays for; my flatmates want to get rid of the BT landline because our quarterly bill was £17 of calls and £30 of line rental. It's me vs them, I'd like to lose the landline too.

Er, except for the broadband; obviously, I NEED THAT. the other flatmates have no interest whatsoever in computers or the internet, except once when Kathryn used it to look up knitting patterns.

Any ideas? Apart from the fact it's fairly irrelevant what with me probably going to live in a shack in a field in Blyth Valley for £20pm, which is about all I can afford now.

That's what I thought; my dad did pick it without asking me, which rankled slightly - probably could've got a broadband+phone rental for the same price. however, I think he's gone and got a 12 month unbreakable contract.

Just checked the terms & conditions - terminating the contract before the 12 months is up, and you still have to pay for whatever's left of the 12 months. eek. Wonder if I can get an ultra-low cost rental BT line? probably not. fuck.

it's £30 per quarter, which does work out at £10 per month :P

Or... show your flatmates how much more the phone calls would have cost if they were made on a mobile?

If you're really hard up for a job, you could try Borders..?

Sainsburys, Tesco and Lidl all rejected me :(

And that's all I have to say about that.

Don't worry - rejections from retail places usually mean they just haven't got a place available at that point.

Most of the people I worked with at Borders had had to apply more than once. (Ben and Iain, for example, and not a few of the people who were managers by the time I left.)

Alternatively, they may consider you over-qualified. Sucks, but at least your self-esteem remains intact. Again, no harm in reapplying every so often. (Also try phoning them a week or two after sending in the form - shows initiative.)

It won't be that they don't think you could do the job, so don't stress on that score.
